About OilGrow & what we value
Dr. Denise Olivier and her husband Pieter started OilGrow in 2018. At first, she focussed only on assisting farmers with the analysis of the pure essential oils they produced. She would set up Certificates of Analysis for them as bargaining tools to make sure the market-related prices for the bulk oils could be obtained. She also offered to draft other required documents for them such as Technical Data Sheets, Material Data Safety Sheets and IFRA Certificates – all required for exporting their top-quality essential oils.
We soon realized that the farmers are not necessarily the guys who are selling the oils and making it available to the local market. We knew that was where OilGrow had to fill the gap in the industry. Today we have a retail footprint across South Africa. You can contact an OilGrow Reseller near you, or find our oils in various retail outlets such as pharmacies, health shops, spa’s and guesthouses, even DIY depots. Every person selling our oils have realized the value to be found in the 100% natural pure essential oils, essential oil blends, carrier oils, personal care products and aroma diffuser accessories we make available at affordable prices.

To understand more about OilGrow’s vision & mission, you need to understand that three things are important to us. Our vision is to support local as far as possible, to make 100% pure, top-quality essential oils accessible and affordable to everybody in South Africa, and to do so with care for the needs of our clients.

- Local: By doing our bit to support local production, we in turn also contribute to job creation. This is also why we have a reseller program running – “creating an opportunity for families to earn a bit extra is something we feel privileged to be able to do.”
- Quality: Denise is still involved in consulting and loves taking the farmers through the process from beginning to end and help them understand the analysis results. By still being involved on ground-level, we have access to home-grown sources of the best oils South Africa has to offer. Today we source at least 30% of our natural oils locally, and the other oils are imported through trusted suppliers – all with a Certificate of Analysis, showing quality, authenticity and origin. Every oil in the OilGrow repertoire is completely traceable back to its source.
- Care: One of the key values in Oilgrow is that the essential oil business is not about us. Everything is about the client and their journey – we aim to listen more than what we talk. That way we can determine what the needs of our clients are, and fulfil it with a quality yet affordable product. Why choose us for home essentials
Our vast product compilation includes various pure essential oils – these are volatile aromatic oils which are steam-distilled from various plant parts. Essential oils have an instant effect when inhaled as they are made up of tiny molecules absorbed through the nose’s blood vessels. They are oily, so they mix with the oils on the skin and are absorbed immediately. This means they are available within 30 minutes in the bloodstream after application. Each oil consists of at least 20 or more compounds (types of tiny molecules) which work together to impart a broader impact on various receptors in the body. This affords an overall healing effect.
What is most exciting about essential oils is the magic that happens when you blend them. “For example”, says Dr Denise, “if you blend Rose Geranium with Rosemary oil, a mint note starts to develop! It’s like painting and mixing colors – it’s artistry.” The best part about blending pure essential oils, is that their separate healing properties of the oils work together synergistically to give an enhanced overall effect! Or unique custom-made essential oil blends impart potent aid to healing a great variety of ailments including sinus (Minus Sinus) and respiratory illnesses (Respi-Rescue), pain and inflammation (Relief), anxiety (Calm) and stress (Forest, Mystical), even hormone imbalance (Bloom, Marvellous). They are able to disinfect (Clean), boost you into a good mood (Bliss), help you focus (Focus, Grace) or relax (Splendour), support immune and gut health (Boost), aid in weight loss (Lite) and act as potent insect repellents (Bugshield).
Seed oils (also known as vegetable oils, carrier oils or fixed oils) are cold-pressed from seeds, kernels or nuts. They are safe, nourishing and rejuvenating so that they may be used undiluted on the skin, hair and nails. These oils may also be used to dilute concentrated Essential Oils, especially for use in massage and in cosmetic preparations. We are proud to present our collection of carrier oils – these seed oils are made up of long-chain fatty acids which offer many health benefits, including anti-oxidant, antiaging, moisturizing and wound-healing properties. Even here we try to support the local producers as much as possible. Examples of locally sourced carrier oils are Avocado, Grapeseed, Rosehip, Kalahari Melon seed and Pomegranate seed oils. The other pure carrier oils we have are Argan, Fractionated Coconut oil (MCT) and Sweet almond oil.
It was an inevitable next step to incorporate the essential oil blends into a range of functional personal care products. Special care is taken with the formulations of the blends and personal care products to use only natural ingredients along with the pure oils, or those derived from natural ingredients. These products are used with great success and wonderful feedback from our clients. Their benefits serve all ages!
Whilst the Baby-zzz massage oil helps to relax Baby and promote sleep, the blend is also useful for treating scratches, burns and itches. Our haircare products for men (Bushwillow beard oil) and for ladies (Pompadour hair serum) are returning magnificent results. Zing-less assists with the treatment of tinnitus, whilst Arthro-ease and Muscle-rescue are potent massage blends in assisting to relieve pain, inflammation and muscle spasms. The Bugshield essential oil blend has been incorporated into a family of products: lotion, spray and a glycerine soap, safe for kids and animals. A range of wonderfully fragranced glycerine soaps and toilet sprays (room sprays & linen mists) also feature in the ensemble.
We make sure that only authentic, unadulterated, 100% natural, pure oils are included in our repertoire of products. The labels on our oils describe in detail what the products contain and how it should be used. Important to note: The concentrations of active ingredients in all our blends comply to the IFRA regulations as specified for their intended uses.
Since essential oils are combinations of highly concentrated chemical compounds, they may cause allergic reactions if used on the skin undiluted. For this reason, we always encourage our clients to dilute the essential oils with carrier oils dilute the essential oils before applying it to the skin. Alternatively, for breathing in the volatile molecules, we have a huge selection of very stylish aroma diffusers, including ultrasonic diffuser humidifiers and ceramic diffusers to use with the essential oils or essential oil blends. The diffusers are also humidifiers in the sense that ultrasonic sound waves impart enough energy to the liquid molecules that they are transformed to volatile micro-droplets. Because no heat elements are used for this process, the units are energy-efficient and safe (they make cold steam). The absence of heat also ensures the integrity of the essential oils which are diffused along with the cold water. The ultrasonic sound waves are inaudible so that the white noise produced by the movement of water inside of the unit is non-intrusive.
The diffuser jewellery and keyrings are means to wear the oils as a perfume without it getting in contact with the skin. This is a means to prevent skin irritation, even for those people who are unable to wear perfume.
